Israeli attacks persist in Gaza as more babies die due to hypothermia

Eighty-one days after the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation continues its military assaults and violations, carrying out airstrikes on al-Maghazi Camp and Beit Lahia, while launching artillery shelling across the southern areas of the enclave.

On Tuesday, occupation forces detonated an explosive-laden armored vehicle in the eastern districts of Gaza City and demolished residential buildings in the same area, according to local reports.

Israeli warplanes also carried out an airstrike east of al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza, while artillery bombardment targeted wide areas of Khan Younis and Rafah in the southern part of the Strip.

Civilian casualties increasing amid harsh weather

Over the past 48 hours, Gaza hospitals received the body of one Palestinian recovered from the rubble and treated three injured civilians.

Separately, a Palestinian was killed after a wall collapsed on him in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City. In another incident, a two-month-old child, Arkan Musleh, died due to hypothermia from exposure to severe cold, raising the number of civilians killed due to harsh weather conditions to 25.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, a total of 414 Palestinians have been killed and 1,145 injured, with 680 bodies recovered from destroyed areas. This brings the overall toll of the Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, to 71,266 martyrs and 171,222 wounded.

Gaza's health authorities reported new fatalities and injuries over the past 48 hours, warning that ongoing Israeli aggression, combined with harsh winter conditions, continues to claim lives despite a declared ceasefire announced in mid-October.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said hospitals received the body of one martyr recovered from under the rubble and treated three injured people during the past two days. Health officials warned that an unknown number of victims remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings or stranded on roads, unreachable due to extensive destruction and continued danger.

Siege Deepens Suffering

Humanitarian agencies, including the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, have repeatedly warned that winter conditions are compounding "Israel's" war on Gaza. Tens of thousands of shelters have been damaged or destroyed, while severe restrictions on aid entry prevent the delivery of sufficient tents, blankets, fuel, and building materials.

Human rights experts argue that these deaths are not accidental consequences of war but the foreseeable outcome of "Israel's" deliberate targeting of civilian life and the conditions that sustain it. By destroying homes, blocking reconstruction, and maintaining sweeping restrictions under the guise of security, "Israel" is accused of turning cold, rain, and rubble into additional weapons against a besieged population.

As winter deepens, Gaza's Health Ministry warns that the death toll will continue to rise unless "Israel's" aggression ends and unhindered humanitarian access is restored, conditions many say remain absent despite claims of a ceasefire.
